LISNs
ALISN, which is an abbreviation of 'Line Impedance Stabilisation Network', is a device that is used in conducted and radiated radio-frequency emission and susceptibility tests, as specified in various EMC / EMI test standards.
LISNs are used to test conducted and radiated radio-frequency emissions and susceptibilities by acting as a low-pass filter usually placed between an AC or DC power supply and the equipment being tested.
Different types of LISNs can be used to measure DC, single phase or 3-phase AC power supplies.
A LISN used for mains powered equipment may also be called an Artificial Mains Network (AMN).
A LISN provides a repeatable, stable electrical enviroment by providing a defined impedance to the Equipment Under Test (EUT) while also providing filtering to prevent any noise present in the power source affecting the EUT and protecting the supply from noise generated within the EUT. Additionally, the LISN contains a 50ΩRF measurement port. All of this allows conducted RF meaurements to be made in a controlled manner.
Most EMC standards require the use of a 50 Ω LISN with either 5µH or50µH characteristic impedance.
Selecting the correct LISN for the required application is based on the following parameters:
